Code of Ethics for Students

  1. Students should be in full uniform within the campus and have their identity cards always with them. Students should remember that wherever they may be, they represent the College and honour it by their behaviour.
  2.  Students should give the correct information regarding their residential address. Any change in the residential address should be reported to the office immediately.
  3. Students are expected to move quickly and quietly when they go from one classroom to another.
  4.  Students must show due respect to the staff. They shall stand up quietly when teachers or college authorities or accredited visitors enter the classroom and keep standing until they are asked to sit.
  5.  Students are forbidden to organise or attend any meeting in the college or collect money for any purpose without the written permission of the Principal.
  6.  Students should maintain the college property as their own. They should not write or make any mark on the walls or on any part of the college premises or its assets, or throw paper or ink on the floor of the classroom.
  7.  Smoking and drinking are strictly prohibited in the campus.
  8. Disobedience, irregular attendance, malpractice in examinations, habitual carelessness, bad conduct and manners and non-observance of the rules of the college shall meet with strong disciplinary action including dismissal from the college.
  9. While attending meetings, students should be respectful to the Chairperson and Speakers and avoid leaving during meeting or showing noisy approval or disapproval.
  10. Students are not allowed to loiter on the corridors. They should go to the Library-Reading Room and observe strict silence, when there is no class for them. They are not allowed to stand near the entrance or at the staircases.
  11. Students are not allowed to use mobile phones inside the classrooms.
  12. Students are requested to report to the ‘Lost and Found Corner’ in the College office regarding loss of valuable material within the College permises. They are also asked to handover any such material found within the campus to the corner. Honest students will be rewarded

UNIFORM DRESS

General Guidelines:-

1. All clothing should be decent, clean, and well-maintained.

2. Hairstyles must be neat, uniformly cut, and out of the face. No dying of Hair is allowed.

3. Body piercing and tattoos are not permitted.

4. No hats, non-prescription eye-wear are permitted on the campus.

Girls:-

UG/PG Girl students should wear normal fitting Churidar. The neck of Churidar top must not be lower than 2 inches from the hollow in the neck. Dupatta must be four folded and pinned on both the shoulders.

Those who wear over coats/waist coats are exempted from wearing dupatta. Back-open blouses or front-open tops are not allowed.

Boys:-

1. Boys’ hair must be no longer than the top of the shirt collar in the back or longer than the mid-ear on the side.

2. The uniform shirts must be tucked in “360 degrees” with the waist band of the pants. Shirt sleeves must be 1 inch above the elbow.

3. Boys must wear formal pants of proper size. The pants must be worn at the waist and fit with a belt with no exposure of under garments. Pants are not allowed to ride on the hips.

         Parents and students are expected to follow the uniform code of the College. Issues related to dress or behavior of a student that are no specifically mentioned but are inconsistent with the college’s regulations, may be viewed seriously by the college administration.

Attendance:-

Attendance in this college is compulsory. Further, a student must put in a minimum of 75% attendance to be eligible to write the terminal semester examinations. However, students with 60-74% attendance will be allowed to write the examination after paying the condonation fee. Students with less than 60% attendance will have to Repeat the Semester after the stipulated course is over.

1. All students are expected to be regular and punctual in attending the classes.
2. All students are expected to be in their respective classrooms well before the bell goes.
3. Attendance will be marked for each course at the beginning of each class.
4. All students are expected to be present in the College on the first and last working days of each Semester.
5. No student shall absent himself/herself from the College without previously obtaining leave except in the case of sudden illness or any other emergency. The Vice-Principal is the authority for granting leave.
6. Name of the students who are continuously absent without proper written information to the Authorities concerned, will be removed from the attendance rolls of the College.

Absence:-

a. Leave of Absence
After being absent for three or more consecutive days on account of illness, the student should secure a medical certificate and submit it to the Vice- Principal through the concerned Head of the Department. The procedure for long absences on account of illness, is that a note from the parent or guardian is to be presented by the student to the Vice-Principal through the concerned Head of the Department for approval before resuming classes. Residents must report to the warden in all cases of illness. She
should secure the signature of the Hostel Warden in the leave letter to be submitted to the Vice-Principal through the Head of the Department.

b. Special Leave of Absence
For reasons other than illness, students are required to submit to the Vice- Principal a leave letter countersigned by the Parent / Guardian. After discussion with the Vice-Principal, special leave application form will be issued to them.

   1. This form should be duly filled after consultation with the Head of the Department and submitted to the Vice-Principal for sanction, 48 hours before the actual date from which the student will be absent.
   2. This form is in addition to the letter from Parent / Guardian requesting leave.

   3. In case of emergency other arrangements will be made

    4. This form should not be used for minor ailments.

1. As per the order of the Government, vide letter No. 1418/2013/S12/ FSSA, dated 31.05.2019, this campus has been declared as a Tobacco-Free Zone. Sale of tobacco products within 100 meters of this institution is banned (COTPA. 2003). Students are strictly warned not to use tobacco or any tobacco-related products, such as E-Cigarettes (G.O.MS No:384 dated 03.09.2018)
2. A student who has been convicted of any offence in a criminal court will not be allowed to continue his studies in the College.
3. As per the letter No. MSU/A/Ragging/Cir/2011, dated 04.11.2011 from the Registrar of Manonmaniam Sundernar University, this campus is hereby declared as a campus where there is no discrimination against any Community. All categories of students will enjoy equal opportunities, freedom and access to any facility. Students should abstain from active participation in party or communal politics.
4. Students who indulge in political propaganda or who organise fellow students into political factions in the premises of the college or hostels, or who otherwise engage themselves in party politics are liable to be expelled from the college and hostel.
5. As per the Government letter No. 19340/G1/2018, dated 11.12.2018, RAGGING and ALCOHOLISM are prohibited in the campus. Students indulging in any act of ragging or alcoholism will be severely punished.
6. Students should not indulge in any activity leading to the disruption of peace and discipline, or dislocation of the normal functions or meetings. Those who are found guilty of violation of this rule will attract any of the punishments mentioned in Disciplinary Regulations, para 8 below.
7. Students who are guilty of (a) rude language towards the staff of the college (b) assaulting or attempting to assault fellow-students or the college employees or other staff of the College will attract severe punishments.
8. Under the Rules of the Tamilnadu Government (1978), the Principal shall have the authority to inflict the following punishments in the interest of the students or the institution: Fine/loss of attendance, withhold of term certificate, suspension or expulsion.
9. Any memo from the office calling for an explanation should be answered promptly.
10. The Principal or other authorities of the college may frame and issue, from time to time, disciplinary rules of a permanent or temporary character which regulate the conduct of the students on the rolls, so far as such rules seem necessary to maintain the creditability, usefulness and reputation of the College or hostel
