The vision of the Department is to help the students become worthy scholars endowed with linguistic skills, creative and critical talents in literature and the ability to face the challenges in life.

The Department aims at providing the students opportunities and facilities to learn English language and get training in reading, understanding and appreciation of literature in English and develop a wholesome personality.

As part of the 76th Republic Day celebrations, the UG Association of the Department of English, organized an Interdepartmental Public Speaking Event on 28/1/2025. Dr. J. G. Duresh, the Head of the Department of English and Vice Principal, warmly welcomed the Judges and the participants.

The distinguished panel of judges for the event included Dr. Herald M. Dhas, Dr. Shirly Daniel, and Dr. J. Jane Theepa Jeya Vanathy. Dr. Herald M. Dhas, Head of the Department of MBA and Dean of Training and Placement, kickstarted the event with insightful tips to inspire and motivate the participants.

Under the theme “Navigating Challenges in India: Insights From a Young Indian,” student participants eloquently shared their perspectives during the competition. Following an engaging session of speeches, the results were announced, marking a successful culmination of this talent enhancement event.

It was heartening to witness the high level of social consciousness displayed by the students through their presentations, reflecting their deep understanding and concern for societal issues.
